'HOPE' Falls Below 10,000 Daily Moviegoers for Two Consecutive Days, Nearing the End of Its Theatrical Run

The film "HOPE" has recorded fewer than 10,000 daily moviegoers for two consecutive days, effectively entering the final stage of its theatrical run.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket computer network statistics on the 14th, "HOPE" attracted 6,750 viewers nationwide on the 13th, remaining at No. 6 at the box office. The day before, it drew only 7,631 viewers, recording a daily audience of under 10,000 for two straight days. Its cumulative audience stands at 4,436,853.

"HOPE" premiered on the 15th and got off to a strong start, drawing 330,000 moviegoers on its opening day. It then maintained strong momentum, surpassing 1 million viewers by its 3rd day and 2 million viewers by its 5th day.

However, ticket sales began to slow down starting from its second week. Mixed reviews from the early stage of its release proved to be a stumbling block for the film's box office performance. Consequently, it took 11 days to surpass 3 million viewers and 19 days to reach 4 million, showing a clear downward trend. During this period, major films such as "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "The Odyssey" were released successively, making it difficult for the film to secure screens.

Currently, "HOPE" has around 300 screens and about 400 screenings. As it is effectively wrapping up its theater run, surpassing its break-even point of approximately 5 million viewers has become unlikely.

Although it recorded lower-than-expected results domestically, international screenings are scheduled to follow, raising expectations for its reception and box office performance overseas.
