Director Lee Joon-ik's First Short-Form Drama 'My Father's Table' to Premiere at Lotte Cinema on September 9

Director Lee Joon-ik's first short-form drama, "My Father's Table," will exclusively premiere at Lotte Cinema on September 9.

"My Father's Table" tells the story of Ha-eung, a father who has only sought out home-cooked meals three times a day for 40 years, stepping into the kitchen for the first time in his life to take over for his wife, Sun-ae, who is suffering from a "cooking amnesia." Through the chaotic cooking challenge of a father who must prepare a meal he has received his entire life, the series delightfully turns familiar daily family routines and relationships upside down.

Based on the Lezhin Comics webtoon of the same name by author Gorigata, "My Father's Table" is the first short-form drama project by director Lee Joon-ik, who has showcased deep directorial skills through films such as "The Book of Fish," "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet," and "The King and the Clown." The cast features Jung Jin-young, Lee Jung-eun, and Byun Yo-han, along with Park Ji-yeon, Kang Hyung-seok, Park Jung-yoon, Park Se-joon, and Park Ji-yoon, completing a realistic and vibrant portrayal of a family.

The project aims to present a high-quality vertical cinema by adding the fast-paced tempo and dense emotional lines unique to short-form dramas to the everyday warmth and realistic empathy of the original work.

Director Lee Joon-ik previously stated, "Within the vertical frame, you will be able to observe the deep corners of the characters vividly. I set it up so that we wouldn't miss the good parts of the original work while allowing the story to deepen," raising expectations for the delicate character direction he will showcase through this work.

The released poster conveys the warm and upbeat atmosphere unique to "My Father's Table" through the family gathered around a single dining table.

Jung Jin-young takes on the role of Ha-eung, a father who has lived as the absolute authority at home and a tyrant at the dining table for 40 years, but takes on cooking for the very first time. Lee Jung-eun plays the wife Sun-ae, who has been in charge of the family's three meals a day for a long time before suddenly handing over the kitchen to her husband, while Byun Yo-han transforms into their eldest son, Myeong-bok, watching the changes in his parents' daily lives from up close.

Curiosity is stimulated as to what kind of synergy will be created when the subtle expressions and lifelike acting of the three actors, filling the vertical frame, meet director Lee Joon-ik's direction, which delicately portrays characters.

"My Father's Table," which will meet audiences in theaters first, will also be released sequentially on the short-form drama platform Lezhin Snack. It will be released as a single work in theaters and as episodic short-form dramas on Lezhin Snack.
