On August 13, KBS2 announced that the programming for the 10th anniversary special variety show "Love in the Moonlight" has been confirmed. The show will greet viewers across a total of two episodes, with the first episode airing on Wednesday, September 16 at 8:30 PM, followed by the second episode on Wednesday, September 23 at 9:00 PM.
Based on a web novel, "Love in the Moonlight" is a fusion historical drama depicting the palace romance between a crown prince and a eunuch dressed as a man. It originally aired in 2016 and gained immense popularity, recording a peak viewership rating of 23.3%.
This special "Love in the Moonlight" follows actors Park Bo-gum, Kim Yoo-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin, and Kwak Dong-yeon as they head out on a one-night, two-day trip together. Notably, upon Park Bo-gum's proposal that he wanted to meaningfully commemorate the 10th anniversary, Kim Yoo-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin, and Kwak Dong-yeon readily agreed despite their busy schedules, making this special complete-cast gathering a reality.
The five actors traveled to Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, on the 4th for a one-night, two-day trip to complete filming. It was reported that, amid a cheerful atmosphere reminiscent of being back on set 10 years ago, they summoned memories from a decade ago and shared an unchanging camaraderie and friendship.
The production team shared, "It adds deep meaning that the five actors, who rose to youth stardom through 'Moonlight', have gathered in one place once again 10 years later as major figures in K-content that the world is paying attention to. Summoning the memories they shared 10 years ago and displaying their ongoing friendship, the stories they will write out will deliver special memories and emotion to the fans of 'Moonlight'."
