BLACKPINK JISOO Addresses Tears at 10th Anniversary Event: "Please Don't Read Too Much Into It"

BLACKPINK member JISOO has spoken out about the tears she shed following their 10th-anniversary event.

Late at night on the 8th, JISOO shared a long message on a fan platform, saying, "Hello! I think this is my first time back in Beijing since a family trip when I was in middle school! Thank you everyone for welcoming me." She continued, "Because the boundaries of what we want to say, what we can say, what we are allowed to say, and what we don't necessarily need to say are difficult, I think everyone had a hard time bringing up words yesterday." She added, "I just wanted to say that I love all four of us so, so, so much, and express how much we cherish each other."

JISOO's message drew particular attention because she was caught crying heavily in a vehicle after finishing the 10th-anniversary event. JISOO is known as a member who rarely cries, famously asking other members "Why are you crying?" when they shed tears at concerts. Because of this, some interpretations suggested there might be other meanings behind her tears.

In response, JISOO guarded against overinterpretation, stating, "I hope you don't read too many meanings into my tears." She explained, "I just want to gather these various emotions and sum them up as the overwhelming feeling of us spending 10 years together." She also drew a line against comparisons with other members, saying, "Just because I cried publicly for the first time, does it mean I was the most sincere or the most upset this time..? I don't think it's right to think that way," and adding, "Just because I didn't cry during the tour doesn't mean I wasn't moved."

JISOO also shared her feelings regarding the controversies surrounding this 10th anniversary. She reassured fans, saying, "The misunderstandings and disappointments that arise from not talking... it might be frustrating, but for our 10th anniversary, which we should have been celebrating together, I mostly just hope that even though we've already made each other feel disappointed, no more negative stories or endless speculations will come out."

Concluding her message, she expressed her affection for the fans by saying, "Anyway, I rambled a lot, but a bit late, I love you, and happy 10th anniversary! I wanted to greet you late! Working for 10 years, wow, liking each other for 10 years, wow, we must be amazing people! Thank you."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016, and celebrated their 10th anniversary on the 8th. Ahead of the anniversary, there had been fan complaints questioning whether BLACKPINK was preparing a fan communication event. Following the controversy, a 10th-anniversary live broadcast featuring all the members and a meet-and-greet event at the National Museum of Korea were successfully held. JISOO had previously delivered an apology to fans through a separate long letter at midnight on the 8th.
