A fire that broke out at a steel manufacturing plant in Busan has been fully extinguished after overnight operations, about 10 hours after it started.

The Busan Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters announced that the fire, which originated at a scrap metal storage warehouse inside a steel manufacturing plant in Gupyeong-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, at 6:49 PM on the 8th, was completely put out at 5:38 AM today.

Fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at around 7:30 PM on the day of the fire and deployed 143 personnel along with 50 pieces of equipment to the scene.

The major flames were contained at 12:35 AM today, about five hours later.

No casualties have been confirmed so far.

In connection with the fire, the Busan Metropolitan Government advised nearby residents to refrain from going outside.

Although a large amount of smoke was generated around the scene due to the fire, no hazardous chemicals were leaked.

Fire authorities stated, "Because the amount of scrap metal is estimated to be around 2,000 tons, it took a considerable amount of time to completely extinguish the fire," adding, "We plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire."
