Amid scorching heat with temperatures soaring up to 35°C (95°F), a man in his 50s was found dead inside a sealed vehicle.

At around 3:00 PM yesterday (August 1), an acquaintance discovered Mr. A, in his 50s, dead in a parking lot in Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, and reported it to emergency services at 119.

Mr. A had come to a nearby stream with acquaintances to catch freshwater snails.

At around 7:40 AM that morning, he complained of dizziness.

He then returned to his car, saying he wanted to rest.

However, when his acquaintance checked the car again about seven hours later, Mr. A had already passed away.

At the time he was found, the car's air conditioning was not running.

All the windows were also tightly closed, leaving the vehicle sealed.

The daytime high in the area soared to 35°C (95°F) on the day of the incident.

Police focused on the fact that Mr. A had no notable preexisting chronic illnesses.

Accordingly, they are presuming that he lost his life to heatstroke while sleeping inside the closed vehicle amid the extreme heat.

Police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.
