"We came all this way, but XX"... A 24-Hour Look at the Korea Coast Guard During Peak Vacation Season

As the peak summer vacation season gets underway,

the number of people visiting the ocean, beaches, and tidal flats is increasing, leading to a rising risk of marine accidents. Incidents such as people being stranded by rising tides, boats breaking down and drifting at sea, and individuals falling into danger during nighttime tidal flat foraging are occurring frequently.

Out at sea, where emergencies can strike at any time and place, there is not a single moment to let one's guard down. Standing at the very front line to protect the lives of citizens are the members of the Korea Coast Guard.

Operating seamlessly across both land and sea, they continue their patrols, and when a report is received, rescue boats and patrol cars are dispatched simultaneously to secure the golden time for rescue operations.

From beach safety management and rescuing those trapped in tidal flats to cracking down on illegal tidal flat foraging, we captured a day in the life of the coast guard, who race through the field day and night so that citizens can enjoy the ocean with peace of mind.
