Behind the Intense Action of 'HOPE' with the Special Effects Crew Behind '007' & 'Mission: Impossible'

The film "HOPE" has released a special video revealing the behind-the-scenes of its special photography.

Director Na Hong-jin and cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo maximized natural daylight through "HOPE" to capture subtle changes in light with sophisticated camera work and designed an overwhelming mise-en-scène.

In addition, XM2, the special photography team that participated in the "007" series, the "Mission: Impossible" series, the "John Wick" series, and the "Star Wars" series, joined forces to create original action sequences never before seen in Korean cinema.

The released video captures how electric bikes, wire cams, and slider systems capable of traveling at 200 kilometers per hour were utilized to complete the bold action scenes unique to "HOPE," ranging from rugged horseback action and thrilling chase sequences to fast-paced car chases.

Furthermore, breathtaking landscapes were captured both domestically and internationally—including the dense and deep forests of Retezat in Romania, as well as Haenam in Jeollanam-do, Hapcheon in Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeju Island—completing visual spectacles that add strength to the narrative.

The dynamic chase scenes racing through a village turned into chaos and the three-dimensional perspective of the camera capturing an unknown presence combine the original sensibilities of Director Na Hong-jin and cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo with the technological prowess of XM2 to deliver unprecedented visual catharsis.

"HOPE" is a film that depicts the story that begins when Beom-seok, the head of the Hopohang branch office located in the Demilitarized Zone, hears news from local youths that a tiger has appeared, and encounters an unbelievable reality while the entire village goes on high alert. It surpassed 2 million moviegoers nationwide within 5 days of its release.
