The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) announced that it has replaced some of its candidates for the boards of directors of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and the Educational Broadcasting System (EBS).

Chief Spokesperson Kang Jun-hyeon met with reporters after the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly today (July 10) and stated, "We have reselected candidates due to the emergence of grounds for disqualification."

Accordingly, the new candidates for the KBS board include the existing candidates Kim Yu-jin, former non-standing commissioner of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, and Lee Seung-hoon, co-chair of the Korea Civil Society Network, alongside newly selected candidates Jeong Jae-kwon, a current KBS board member, and Koo Chang-hoon, a partner attorney at the law firm Won.

For the EBS board, the new candidates include the existing candidates Lee Jin-soon, former standing co-representative of the Citizens' Coalition for Democratic Media, and Jo Ho-yeon, a non-standing director at EBS, along with a newly nominated candidate, Kim Sun-nam, a professor in the Division of Public Administration and Media at Wonkwang University.

The DPK selects 4 out of the 6 KBS board members allocated to the National Assembly, and 3 out of the 5 members for the EBS board.

The DPK had initially selected its candidates earlier this month. However, the party proceeded with the replacements after the Broadcasting, Media, and Communications Committee notified them that three candidates were disqualified for failing to meet regulations regarding political neutrality or term limits for reappointment.
