Heavy rain is concentrated in the central region, including Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong Province, and North Chungcheong Province.
With heavy rain warnings in effect across the Chungcheong and Honam regions, reports of damage are emerging from various areas.
At 6:50 a.m., regular train services between Bugang Station and Seochang Station on the Gyeongbu Line in Sejong were temporarily suspended before resuming. At 8:12 a.m., operations between Jochiwon Station and Doan Station on the Chungbuk Line were also briefly halted due to heavy rainfall.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) stated that it is currently operating on an adjusted schedule, suspending and resuming train services depending on the intensity of the downpour.
However, KTX high-speed trains are operating normally.
The heavy rainfall has also forced residents in the Chungcheong region to evacuate.
As of 6:00 a.m. today, a total of 147 people across four cities and provinces have temporarily evacuated, including 106 in South Chungcheong Province, 28 in North Chungcheong Province, 7 in Sejong, and 6 in North Gyeongsang Province.
Facility damage has also been reported nationwide.
A total of 94 cases of damage have been recorded, with reports of fallen trees being the most frequent at 35, followed by 13 cases of sinkholes, 10 cases of flooded roads, and 9 cases of manhole overflows.
However, as the rain continues, the scale of the damage is expected to increase.
Worsening weather conditions have also disrupted sea and air travel.
Ferry services on two routes, including Gyeokpo to Wido and Jangja to Maldo, have been suspended. Flights at Cheongju and Jeju airports were briefly grounded before operations resumed.
While monsoon rain has been pouring over the Seoul metropolitan area since this morning, there have been no reports of injuries caused by the rain so far.
