The number of companies that entered the export market and remained active for one year as of last year reached its highest level in the past five years.

The Korea Customs Service announced on Tuesday (June 30) that, based on an analysis of the 2025 Corporate Trade Activity Statistics, the number of surviving companies that entered the export market in 2024 and continued their export activities for one year stood at 12,602, an increase of 1.9 percent from the previous year.

The number of surviving companies last year was the highest in the last five years.

These companies accounted for 12.4 percent of all companies with export records last year.

The total export value of these surviving companies recorded 10.1 billion dollars, an increase of 22.7 percent from the previous year.

The average export value per company was 810,000 dollars.

By the number of companies, the products exported by these surviving firms were led by machinery and computers (10.2 percent), followed by electrical appliances (8.4 percent), plastics (7.2 percent), cosmetics (6.1 percent), and automobiles (4.7 percent).

In terms of export value, the order was automobiles (23.7 percent), machinery and computers (15.3 percent), precious metals (7.2 percent), electrical appliances (7.0 percent), and plastics (6.8 percent).

The surviving companies exported to 178 countries, with China accounting for the largest share in both the number of companies and export value.
