Police have launched an investigation after a passerby cut and took rose flowers and branches from a popular rose spot in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Suwon Paldal Police Station announced today (June 26) that they have identified a man and a woman in their 60s suspected of cutting off rose flowers and branches from a residential wall in Haenggung-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon, around 12:00 a.m. on June 24. The police have notified them to appear for questioning next week.

The location is known on social media as the "Blue Gate Rose" spot and has gained attention as a popular destination for photography.

Although most of the roses had already wilted at the time of the incident, it was found that the two individuals cut and took about 10 items, including several remaining flowers and branches.

The owner of the roses reported the incident to the police on June 24 after identifying the suspects' actions through CCTV footage.

The owner, who has been tending to the roses at this location for a long time, posted photos of the damage on social media, expressing frustration by stating, "They cut so many roses this time that it will likely be difficult to restore them to their previous state."

A police official stated, "We plan to question the suspects to determine the motive for the crime and the exact extent of the damage."
