The ceremony for the 76th anniversary of the Korean War was held in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

With approximately 1,000 attendees, including Korean War veterans, government and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps in Korea, President Lee Jae-myung expressed his gratitude, stating that the peace we enjoy today was built upon the sacrifices and dedication of the war veterans.

He further emphasized that, based on strong national defense, he would unwaveringly protect the Republic of Korea, which the veterans defended with their lives and youth.

At today's (June 25) ceremony, the "Kagnew Choir," composed of descendants of Ethiopian veterans who were among the nations that sent troops during the Korean War, performed "Arirang" as a special musical tribute.

The Chungmu Order of Military Merit was awarded to the late veteran Kim Jang-seong, who had not been recognized as a person of merit for his participation as an irregular soldier during the Korean War, while the Hwarang Order of Military Merit was awarded to Lee Young-bok and the late veteran Jeon Ha-jeong.
