On June 23, Lee Yo-won, the host of SBS's "Match to Marry 2", appeared on SBS Power FM (107.7MHz) "Love Game". She candidly opened up about everything from her reasons for joining variety shows to what has changed in the upcoming season of "Match to Marry 2" ahead of its premiere.
During the broadcast, host Park So-hyun asked, "We've been seeing a lot of you on variety shows since last year. Was there a particular reason for this?" Lee Yo-won replied, "I actually started appearing on YouTube first last year. I watch a lot of YouTube myself, and I think it changed my mindset."
She continued, "Instead of staying confined within the boundaries of being an actress and thinking, 'I should do this and I shouldn't do that,' I realized it's better to just do what I want to do in the moment."
Park So-hyun then asked, "I wonder if you've always been this witty and just didn't realize it, or if you missed out on opportunities because you are an actress." Lee Yo-won brought laughter by replying, "I've never thought of myself as witty. I'm not usually a talkative person. But when I meet up with close friends, they often tell me, 'People need to see this side of you,' and 'You're so clumsy and funny.'"
Lee Yo-won also shared details about "Match to Marry 2", which is set to premiere this Thursday, June 25, at 9 PM.
When asked about the clear differences from Season 1, Lee Yo-won emphasized the sincerity of the casting process, saying, "For Season 2, the applicants gathered because they watched the show and genuinely wanted to participate." She added, "Season 2 is the real deal and extremely realistic," hinting at an even more intense and realistic matchmaking experience.
"Match to Marry" is a dating reality show that made a huge splash with its unconventional concept of parents and children living together. Set in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, Season 2 will feature 10 single men and women boldly flirting, while raising anticipation with a new twist: the appearance of the fathers. Lee Yo-won explained that while the fathers will not live in the house, they will make surprise appearances. She teased that at those moments, "You will feel like it's a real matchmaking session, almost like meeting the in-laws," sparking the curiosity of future viewers.
She also revealed her exciting chemistry with co-hosts Seo Jang-hoon and Kim Yo-han. When asked about their personality differences, she clearly defined them, saying, "Seo Jang-hoon is more of a 'T' (Thinking) type than me. I'm more in the middle."
She boasted about their balance, adding, "Yo-han is an 'F' (Feeling) type, and since he's still young, he focuses on the romance. I feel like I'm in the middle, empathizing with both Yo-han and Seo Jang-hoon." She also shared that when Seo Jang-hoon makes harsh remarks in the studio—sometimes saying "No way" too strongly—she acts as a buffer, explaining, "I tend to say, 'In that situation, anyone could fall for it like that.'"
With family involvement and raw, realistic conditions colliding, the production team has teased that the show will be "a tongue-numbing, spicy 'mala' flavor." "Match to Marry 2" is set to premiere this Thursday, June 25, at 9 PM.
Meanwhile, "Love Game" airs daily from 6 PM to 8 PM on SBS Power FM 107.7MHz and can also be viewed via the SBS Gorilla app.
