Singer RAVI, formerly of the group VIXX, has returned to the music scene after approximately four years, following a controversy regarding the violation of the Military Service Act. After a long hiatus, RAVI has officially announced his comeback through his music.
RAVI released his new digital single, "Nyeok," on various online music platforms at 6 PM on the 22nd. "Nyeok" is a track that explores the various emotions and moments encountered in the flow of life through RAVI's unique perspective. The song captures his signature musical style, blending dense lyrics and a calm yet powerful rap performance over a lyrical melody.
This new release marks his first new music in about four years, following his previous track "Outdated Dance," released in October 2022. It has garnered significant attention as it is his first official music release since standing trial for violating the Military Service Act.
In 2023, RAVI was indicted on charges of conspiring with a military service broker to receive a false epilepsy diagnosis in an attempt to evade his military duties. According to the prosecution, RAVI was investigated for receiving an "epilepsy scenario" from the broker and acting as if he had fainted to obtain a false medical diagnosis. The court found RAVI guilty and sentenced him to one year in prison, suspended for two years. He fulfilled his remaining service period in accordance with the Military Manpower Administration's orders and was discharged last December.
After a long silence, RAVI signaled his return by posting a lengthy message on his social media last March to express his feelings. He wrote, "I felt incredibly ashamed of myself for using my personal situation and circumstances as an excuse to ask for understanding. I realized that my cowardly choices could cause hurt and harm to others. I apologize once again to those who were hurt by my wrong actions," adding, "I will continue to learn and discipline myself to live as a better person."
