JANGWONYOUNG of the group IVE is continuing to take legal action against those who write malicious posts targeting her, both domestically and internationally.
On June 18, her agency, Starship Entertainment, announced in an official statement, "We are continuously monitoring and taking legal action against the creation and distribution of malicious posts targeting our artist, JANGWONYOUNG."
According to Starship, investigations are currently underway for several cases to identify suspects and secure evidence. In particular, warrant procedures are in progress to obtain subscriber information from domestic platforms such as Naver Blog and DC Inside. Additionally, international cooperation procedures are being pursued for overseas platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to identify writers and secure relevant information.
Starship explained, "We are continuously collecting evidence of posts that infringe upon our artists' rights through fan reports and our own monitoring. We are taking strong legal action, including criminal and civil measures, against confirmed illegal acts such as insults, defamation, spreading false information, sexual harassment, sexual insults, and invasion of privacy."
They emphasized, "Regardless of any subsequent actions taken by the perpetrators, such as deleting posts, deleting accounts, or switching accounts to private, we will hold them legally accountable to the very end based on the secured evidence."
Starship added that they are applying the same principles to respond to acts that infringe upon the rights of all their artists, including IVE, MONSTA X, and KiiiKiii, and not just JANGWONYOUNG.
Previously, Starship successfully identified the operator of the YouTube channel 'Taldeok Camp' by pursuing domestic and international legal action. In January of this year, the operator was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for three years, along with a forfeiture of approximately 200 million KRW.
Meanwhile, JANGWONYOUNG recently became the center of attention online due to the so-called 'mask controversy' that arose during her departure at the airport. Last month, after she was filmed lowering her mask for identity verification at the Gimpo International Airport departure hall, some raised allegations of preferential treatment and criticized her attitude.
In response, the Korea Airports Corporation clarified, "There was no preferential treatment for the celebrity," and stated that they would strengthen guidance and promotional efforts regarding identity verification procedures in the future.
