The Rebuilding Korea Party has decided to hold its national convention on July 25 at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province to elect its new leadership.

Senior Spokesperson Park Byeong-eon announced the schedule to reporters after the Supreme Council meeting today (June 15).

"We plan to elect a new party leader through the national convention and form a new leadership team, including supreme council members," Park said. "We will complete the party's reorganization and unwaveringly pursue the roles assigned to the Rebuilding Korea Party to achieve political and prosecutorial reforms."

This national convention is being held following the resignation of former leader Cho Kuk, who stepped down after the party's defeat in the June 3 local elections.

Previously, Cho resigned after losing the by-election for a parliamentary seat in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, stating that he would take responsibility for the results.

Since then, Senior Supreme Council Member Shin Jang-sik has been serving as the acting leader in accordance with the party's constitution and regulations.

The election to choose a new floor leader will take place tomorrow (June 16).

Kim Joon-hyung, the party's policy committee chair, is the sole candidate running in this election.
