The 22nd Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival, which is drawing unprecedented buzz and anticipation, has confirmed the hosts for its opening and closing ceremonies.
Following last year, comedienne Jang Doyoun will host the opening ceremony, while actress Joo Hyun-young will host the closing ceremony.
First, Jang Doyoun, who has been widely loved for her signature witty humor and stable hosting skills, successfully kicked off the festival last year with her delightful energy and smooth presentation. Building on that success, she returns to host the opening ceremony once again this year.
Jang Doyoun continues her connection with the film industry, including starring in the film 'Your Country' (literal title), co-directed by Yi Ok-seop and Koo Kyohwan.
Jang Doyoun shared her thoughts on hosting, saying, "As a film fan, I am deeply grateful to be connected with the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival once again. I will do my best to ensure that the hard work of everyone who prepared this festival shines through."
The closing ceremony will also be hosted by Joo Hyun-young, just like last year. At last year's closing ceremony, Joo Hyun-young led the atmosphere with her stable hosting and witty remarks.
Joo Hyun-young expressed her excitement, stating, "It is a true honor to host the closing ceremony again. I will do my absolute best to make this meaningful conclusion to the festival shine even brighter, so I would appreciate your warm support." She also added words of encouragement for the upcoming festival, saying, "This year, the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival has a lineup of submissions full of fresh fun and diverse personalities waiting for the audience. Please show lots of interest and anticipation for the festival starting soon."
The Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival has established itself as a premier gateway for rookie directors in the Korean film industry, discovering creators with fresh sensibilities and potential. This year, the festival received a total of 1,667 submissions, proving its status as South Korea's leading short film festival.
Following last year's resumption after a four-year hiatus, where most screenings were sold out, this year's festival proved the audience's immense trust and enthusiasm by selling out all sessions within just one hour of ticket sales opening.
This year's festival will begin its six-day journey with the opening ceremony on June 18 at 7 PM at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall. The closing ceremony on June 23 will feature the announcement of the winners in each category and introduce the key figures behind the films.
