Ulsan Port is rapidly growing as a hub for supplying ammonia, a next-generation marine fuel. This is because the port has become capable of fueling ammonia-powered vessels built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries with ammonia produced by Lotte Fine Chemical.

This is the Tera Clove, the world's largest ammonia-powered vessel, which held its naming ceremony at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' Ulsan Shipyard on October 22.
The vessel is a dual-fuel propulsion ship capable of transporting ammonia and LNG, and can selectively use conventional marine fuel or ammonia as its power source.
It is about twice the size of the world's first dual-fuel vessel built last April.
Ahead of its departure next month, the vessel recently loaded 800 tons of ammonia as fuel at Ulsan Port.
The ammonia used for marine fuel was produced by Lotte Fine Chemical near Ulsan Port, utilizing a port-to-ship method that supplies the fuel by connecting the port's onshore facilities to the vessel via pipelines.
This marks the fourth time Ulsan Port has supplied ammonia as a marine fuel.
While the first three supplies were for trial operations, this is the first time ammonia has been supplied for actual vessel operations.

As the construction of world-class ammonia-powered ships, along with the production and supply of marine-fuel ammonia, becomes concentrated around Ulsan Port, the port is rapidly growing as a leading supply port for ammonia, one of the key next-generation marine fuels.
