The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced today (October 31) that it conducted a joint crackdown with fire authorities and local governments during the late-night hours yesterday (October 30) in drug-vulnerable areas, including entertainment districts in Gangnam, Seocho, and Yongsan districts.

Following inspections of eight major clubs, no violations of the Narcotics Control Act were found.

This crackdown is part of the "second-half pan-governmental joint special crackdown on narcotics," which has been underway since August 1.

The operation involved specialized narcotics investigation teams and crime prevention and public order divisions from the jurisdiction's police stations, along with public officials from district office hygiene divisions.

Police checked for violations of the Narcotics Control Act, while local governments inspected compliance with the Food Sanitation Act.

A police official stated, "Ahead of Halloween, we targeted clubs, entertainment establishments, and areas densely populated by foreigners where large crowds are expected to gather," adding, "We will continue to strengthen inspection and crackdown activities in vulnerable areas."

Police urged active reporting, noting that they guarantee the anonymity of drug crime informants and offer rewards for tips.
