The government will lift greenbelt restrictions in six areas in Gyeonggi Province, including Gimpo, Hanam, and Guri near Seoul, to supply 76,700 homes. The goal is to complete construction by 2030, but not a single new candidate site is located in Seoul.

Among the candidate sites announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the largest is the Gimpo Ara district in Gochon-eup, Gimpo, with a scale of 37,000 households.
This is followed by Guri Geonwon with 14,600 households and Hanam Misa K-Culture District with 12,000 households.
The ministry explained that all these locations are transportation hubs situated within 5 kilometers of the Seoul boundary, and are greenbelts where chaotic development is either underway or at risk.
This announcement is a follow-up measure to the plan to supply 100,000 new housing sites announced in the August 13 measures.
Adding the 27,200 households from downtown Seoul Gangseo, Namyangju, and Gyeonggi Gwangju Station area disclosed at the time, the total scale reaches 104,000 households.
The "fastest public housing site construction model" will be applied to the six locations, simultaneously conducting licensing, compensation, and land development procedures.
This is intended to reduce the period from site announcement to the start of construction from the existing 68 months to 37 months.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated that it investigated whether employees of the ministry and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) owned land in the areas, but found no suspected cases of speculation.
In addition, out of transactions over the past three years, 654 cases have been selected for abnormal transaction investigations, and the ministry plans to request investigations if illegal activities are suspected.
Land transaction permit zones designated during the August 13 measures will be lifted, excluding the influence zones of the current candidate sites.
Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hong Ji-sun said, "It is most important to continuously supply housing in prime areas favored by real demand such as young people and newlywed couples."
