A man in the United States who stole and swallowed a Tiffany diamond earring worth $770,000 (approximately 1.03 billion won) has pleaded guilty to robbery and theft charges.

The man reportedly stayed in the hospital for about two weeks until the earring passed through his system.

The recovered earring was cleaned by a professional Tiffany jeweler and handed over to the company's security personnel.

The man is scheduled to be sentenced on December 7.
