Jang Min-ho Claims Double Gold with World Record in Para Athletics

Following his consecutive appearances at the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games, track athlete Jang Min-ho has secured two gold medals, setting a new world record in the 400 meters.

Having clinched the top spot three days ago with an Asian record in the 100 meters, Jang delivered an even more brilliant performance in his signature 400-meter event.

Pulling ahead with overwhelming speed from the very beginning, he effectively sealed his victory early on. The moment he crossed the finish line first, the electronic scoreboard lit up with a world-record time of 46.24 seconds.

Jang, who suffers from retinitis pigmentosa—a condition that causes progressive vision loss—overcame even the pain of increased intraocular pressure every time he ran to become a double gold medalist in the competition.

The wheelchair rugby national team defeated world number-one Japan to capture its first-ever gold medal.

Ace player Park Woo-chul, who single-handedly scored 27 points, shed tears alongside his younger brother, Park Seung-chul, as they remembered their late mother.

[Park Woo-chul / Wheelchair Rugby National Team Member: Everyone played so well, and I think that's what allowed us to lead this team to victory.]

[Park Seung-chul / Wheelchair Rugby National Team Member: Just like our (late) mom told us to live proudly, we will keep working hard.]
