Kim Jang-hoon, Seo Kyoung-duk Release Video Ahead of Dokdo Day Highlighting 'Voices of Those Who Protected Dokdo'
Singer Kim Jang-hoon and Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University have produced and released a video titled "People Who Protected Dokdo" to commemorate "Dokdo Day."

The four-minute video was co-produced with the Gyeongbuk Culture Foundation Content Agency. Produced in both Korean and English, it has been uploaded to YouTube and social media platforms, and is also being shared across global Korean and international student communities.

The video begins with the story of Ahn Yong-bok from the Joseon Dynasty, covers the activities of the Dokdo Volunteer Guard in the 1950s, and highlights the lives of residents who once lived on Dokdo. It also introduces individuals who currently protect Dokdo in their respective roles, including the Dokdo Management Office, 119 rescue and emergency personnel, the Dokdo Guard, the Dokdo Lighthouse, and the Korea Coast Guard.

Professor Seo, who planned the video, said, "Through this video, we wanted to remember the people who have protected Dokdo and create content that can pass on that significance to future generations." He added, "We incorporated characters from 'Gangchi Island,' which was released via Netflix this year, throughout the video so that children can easily understand it."

Kim Jang-hoon, who provided the Korean narration, said, "I am glad to convey the stories of the people who have protected Dokdo through my voice, and I hope many netizens both home and abroad will watch it."
