President Lee Jae-myung will meet with the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss ways to strengthen healthcare cooperation between South Korea and the WHO.

President Lee is scheduled to meet with Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at Cheong Wa Dae today (October 21).

Cheong Wa Dae stated that during the meeting, President Lee plans to introduce his "Basic AI Healthcare Strategy" as well as the vision of the "San Francisco AI Declaration" announced during his recent visit to the United States.

It also noted that he will emphasize close cooperation with the WHO so that the benefits of healthcare innovation can spread worldwide through the Global AI Hub and the Global Bio Workforce Training Hub.

Director-General Tedros's visit to South Korea is his first since taking office in 2017, taking place on the occasion of the "World Bio Summit 2026" (October 21 – 22), co-hosted by South Korea and the WHO.
