Nuri Rocket Launch Concludes... Results of Communication to Be Announced at 2 PM

[Anchor]

So far, the Nuri rocket launch itself appears to have proceeded smoothly without any issues. Now, all that remains is to confirm whether communication with the satellites has been successfully established. Let us connect to the Goheung Press Center for more details.

Reporter Jeong Gu-hui, could you walk us through today's launch process?

[Reporter]

Yes, that is correct.

I also watched the Nuri launch process from here.

The Korea AeroSpace Administration announced that all flight operations of Nuri concluded a short while ago at 12:50 PM.

Shortly after at 1:00 PM, a summary briefing on the results of this 5th launch will be held at the Launch Control Center.

The fifth Nuri soared into space today at 12:25 PM.

The deployment of the loaded satellites was completed 17 minutes after launch.

However, as the normal deployment of 1 cube satellite is still being verified, additional analysis is needed to determine whether all satellites have been successfully inserted into orbit.

During the 3rd launch of Nuri back in 2023, there was also an issue where 1 cube satellite failed to deploy.

From this point on, communication with the satellites is crucial to figure out whether the other satellites were accurately inserted into their target orbits.

The Micro-Satellite Constellation Unit 1 was previously launched in 2024, and the satellites launched today consist of a total of five units, from Unit 2 to Unit 6.

These five units are orbiting at an altitude of approximately 570 km.

Currently, the first communication attempts with these satellites are underway.

Communication will first be attempted with Units 2 and 3, and the results of the initial communication are scheduled to be announced here at the Press Center at 2:00 PM.

If communication is established normally, the Nuri launch itself can be evaluated as successful.

Communication will then be sequentially attempted with the remaining Units 4, 5, and 6.

In the case of the 10 cube satellites, it may take several days before the first communication is achieved.

Only after completing the first communication with all satellites can this 5th launch of Nuri be considered to have fully performed all its missions.

Therefore, we will need to monitor the communication status until the very end.
