Tampa Bay Defeats Yankees for Second Consecutive Win, Overcoming Stadium Roof Hit

Tampa Bay, one of the poorest clubs in Major League Baseball, is continuing its sensational run into the postseason following the regular season.

Catching even a batted ball that hit the dome stadium's ceiling, Tampa Bay secured a second straight victory against the New York Yankees, who committed a flurry of errors, leaving them just one win away from advancing to the Championship Series.

Although ranking 28th in team payroll, Tampa Bay claimed the top winning percentage in the American League with "small ball" centered on bunts and mobility. In Game 2 of the Division Series, they rattled Yankees ace, who is poised to win the American League Cy Young Award, right from the first inning.

As speedy hitters turned routine hits into pressure plays, the hurried Yankees defense made successive mistakes.

Capitalizing on three defensive errors in the first inning alone to score the opening run, Tampa Bay displayed highly focused defense in the second inning as well.

A high fly ball hit the ceiling structure of Tampa Bay's home stadium, Tropicana Field, but the right fielder caught the ball after it dropped down a long while later, recording an out.

By forcing two more defensive errors in the fifth inning to add four runs, Tampa Bay clinched its second straight win and stands just one victory away from advancing to the League Championship Series.
