Maebul Show Sets "The Assassin(s)" Content to Private... "Sun Kim Feels Threatened by String of Threatening Emails"

The YouTube channel Maebul Show has switched a video featuring history storyteller Sun Kim (real name Kim Sun-young) discussing the shooting of First Lady Yuk Young-su to private. The decision came after a flood of threatening emails sent to Sun Kim following the video's release reached a point where he felt his personal safety was threatened.

Host Choi Wook announced this during the live broadcast of Maebul Show on October 1, bringing it up right at the start as an announcement. He opened by saying, "My situation has become awkward from the very beginning. I feel I need to report this to you before we get started."

Choi explained that the previous day on Maebul Show, he had mentioned that channels uploading content related to the film "The Assassin(s)" were taking down their videos due to attacks, and noted that despite such circumstances, Maebul Show had kept its video on the Yuk Young-su shooting incident up.

However, just a day later, Choi apologized to viewers, saying, "Too many threatening emails are being sent to the cast member. He contacted us saying he feels his personal safety is threatened, so we ultimately put the video on private to protect the cast member." He added, "It ended up looking like we were condoning unjust attacks. Personally, I feel deeply ashamed, angry, and frustrated. But the safety of the cast member is paramount right now, so we had no other choice. I am mortified and sorry."

Previously, Sun Kim appeared on Maebul Show to cover the 1974 shooting of First Lady Yuk Young-su. At the time, focusing on the trial records of Mun Se-gwang, he summarized suspicions that have been raised surrounding the incident and explained with the sentiment that "I am delivering the information, and it is up to those who receive it to judge."
