Can Bukang the Shark Be Sent Back to Sea Using a Net This Time?

Here is the situation regarding Bukang, the shark that has appeared in Busan's North Port and won widespread affection, showing no signs of leaving. Will the second release attempt be successful?

It was the day before yesterday.

The Coast Guard and fire authorities deployed vessels and water pumps to herd Bukang out of the waterway, but ultimately failed.

The method involved using water jets and noise to guide Bukang toward the open sea, but it did not work.

For the second attempt scheduled for tomorrow, large nets custom-built to match the width and depth of the waterway will be mobilized.

Sinkers will be attached to the nets to make them sink, and authorities plan to block any escape route should Bukang try to turn back, while gradually guiding it toward the sea.

Experts note that since this method progressively narrows the space available for movement, the chances of success are expected to be higher than the first attempt.

However, they explained that success cannot be guaranteed, as there is still a possibility that the shark might break straight through the net or slip through the gaps.

Bukang has emerged as a nationwide star.

We hope that it will safely return to the sea.
