Police have launched an investigation after a woman in her 70s went into cardiac arrest and died at a swimming pool operated by a public institution in Incheon.

According to the Incheon Seobu Police Station today (August 25), a 119 emergency call was received at around 6:30 p.m. the previous day, reporting that a woman in her 70s, identified as A, was showing abnormal symptoms at the swimming pool inside the Seohae-gu Youth Center in Wonchang-dong, Seohae-gu.

A was transported to a hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from emergency responders dispatched to the scene, but ultimately passed away.

Police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death, following statements from acquaintances indicating that A was generally healthy despite her advanced age.

The swimming pool at the youth center is operated by the Seohae-gu Corporation for Facilities Management, with a depth of approximately 1.3 meters.

A police official stated, "We do not believe that A died from drowning," adding, "We will determine the cause of death based on the results of the National Forensic Service autopsy."
