A man in his 60s who went missing while hiking on Mount Cheonmasan in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, has been found dead.

According to fire authorities and police yesterday, a report was filed at around 7:20 a.m. the day before yesterday in Mukhyeon-ri, Hwado-eup, Namyangju, stating, "He has not returned past his expected return time and cannot be reached."

Authorities launched a search and located the vehicle of a man identified as A in the Mount Cheonmasan parking lot. They then searched the area centered around the direction of the summit, discovering A, a man in his 60s, dead below a cliff around noon.

Due to the rugged terrain, police used a helicopter to recover A's body and turned it over to the bereaved family.

According to the police, A routinely hiked Mount Cheonmasan every day. On the day of the incident, he left home early in the morning and sent a photo taken at the summit of Mount Cheonmasan to his family.

Police believe A slipped and fell while descending the mountain and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
