A man has been arrested by police after secretly living in a garage of a home in the United States and stealing food from the refrigerator.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department posted photos of the suspect's arrest on its official social media with the caption, "An unwelcome surprise guest was found in a garage."

Without disclosing the suspect's identity or the specific location of the incident, the police urged residents, "Make sure your garage is secure and stay alert if you notice anything unusual around your property."
