It has been announced that Iran and Oman, acting as a mediator, have reached a major agreement on a new route for the safe passage of merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, President Trump, who stated that legislation is also being prepared to temporarily ban vessels from hostile nations such as the United States and Israel, continues to claim that the war will end soon.

The core of what Iran says it has agreed upon with Oman is a plan to use coastal routes near Iran when entering the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz for a specific period, and coastal routes near Oman when exiting.

A 60-day period is being discussed.

The two sides have reportedly even established coordinates for the new routes and communicated them to the United States and other Gulf nations.

After this period expires, ship movements will be unified into a central channel.

Iran will manage inbound vessels, while inbound and outbound vessels will be jointly managed by Iran and Oman. The Iranian Fars News Agency reported that transit fees will also be determined based on the services provided by Iran.

Legislation is also being prepared to completely ban ships belonging to hostile nations from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

This means that cargo related to Israel, regardless of whether it is military supplies or general goods, as well as goods belonging to countries or individuals that have caused damage to Iran and failed to compensate, will be barred from passing through this region.

President Trump has continuously made optimistic remarks, claiming that negotiations with Iran are going well and that the war with Iran will end soon.

However, if Iran gains strong control over the inbound and outbound traffic of the Strait of Hormuz as it has announced, and even introduces transit fees, it will be difficult for the United States to tolerate the settlement of negotiations between Iran and Oman.

Furthermore, although President Trump emphasizes that he is intervening in these negotiations, Iran maintains the stance that there can be no outside interference in the Hormuz issue.

Amid news that Iran is pursuing legislation to ban vessels of Israel and practically the United States from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, international oil prices have already risen 3 to 4 percent compared to the previous trading day.
