A man in his 60s who went missing on Mt. Hwaksan in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, has been found dead on the second day of the search.

According to police and fire authorities, the man, identified as A, was found collapsed on the mid-slope of Mt. Hwaksan in Hwaksan-ri, Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, at around 7:10 AM today (August 6).

When found, A was in a state of cardiac arrest and was transferred to a hospital, but ultimately died.

Previously, at around 6:20 PM yesterday, a report was filed stating, "One member of our hiking club who went up the mountain with us has not come down."

Authorities deployed firefighters, rescue dogs, and police officers to search the area around Mt. Hwaksan, but failed to locate A until late in the evening. The search resumed this morning, leading to the discovery of A on the mid-slope of the mountain.

Police plan to request an autopsy of A's body from the National Forensic Service to investigate the exact cause of death.
