Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei stated that the United States has repeatedly violated previous Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), declaring that it has "once again proven that the U.S. President's signature holds no value or validity."

Ayatollah Khamenei released this statement in writing through Iranian state television on July 18, local time.

The statement was issued just hours after Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister and Iran's representative for working-level negotiations with the U.S., announced that Iran would suspend its obligations under the MOU.

In his statement, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the U.S. as the "Great Satan," adding, "The dark experience of crimes and broken promises has become yet another clear piece of evidence of America's dishonesty, irrationality, and baseness."

He further emphasized that "coercion, hegemony, and barbarism are inseparable elements of the American way of acting," and warned that "Iran and the 'Resistance Front' will teach the enemy an unforgettable lesson."

He also stressed that maintaining national unity is the top priority, stating, "The enemy must not detect any sign of weakness from us. When we strictly adhere to this, the enemy will inevitably be forced to retreat and face defeat."

Ayatollah Khamenei was reported to have been seriously injured in a U.S.-Israel airstrike last February.

He has not appeared in public since succeeding his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as Supreme Leader.
