The heat wave has arrived while the monsoon rain has entered a lull.
Even now, as we head into the night, the temperature in Seoul is hovering around 31°C (88°F).
You can see citizens out at Hangang Park trying to cool off from the heat.
Here is the current status of the heat wave warnings.
Heat wave advisories are in effect for most parts of the country, excluding mountainous areas in Gangwon Province and the northeastern mountainous regions of North Gyeongsang Province. In some areas, including Seoul, these have been upgraded to heat wave warnings.
The tropical night advisory, newly introduced this year, has also been expanded to various regions nationwide.
In these areas, the overnight low temperatures will remain between 25°C (77°F) and 27°C (81°F).

It feels like it suddenly got hot after the monsoon season ended. Why is this happening?
[Weather Caster Lim Eun-jin]
The North Pacific high-pressure system has pushed the monsoon front northward, and this sudden heat wave is occurring because two high-pressure systems are covering the Korean Peninsula simultaneously.
As the North Pacific high-pressure system expanded northward, the monsoon front that brought rain was pushed up to North Korea. Additionally, an upper-level high-pressure system originating from the Tibetan Plateau has expanded to the Korean Peninsula, creating a situation where these two systems are trapping heat over the peninsula like a blanket.
Consequently, tomorrow will be as hot as today, with temperatures reaching 34°C (93°F) in Seoul and 37°C (99°F) in Pohang. This heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 33°C (91°F), is expected to continue until early next week.
Tomorrow afternoon, atmospheric instability may bring showers to the eastern part of Gyeonggi Province, inland Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province, and North Jeolla Province. Rain is also expected in Jeju Island, South Jeolla Province, and the western part of South Gyeongsang Province.
The sweltering heat will continue until early next week, and on Wednesday, the monsoon front will move southward again, bringing rain across the country.
