Prosecutors have requested a prison sentence for a man in his 20s who sprayed capsaicin on toilet paper in a women's restroom at a commercial building.
During the final hearing held today (July 10) at the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Kang Sung-jin of the 16th Criminal Division, prosecutors asked the court to sentence a 21-year-old social service agent, identified by his surname Kim, to nine years in prison on charges including injury.
The prosecution also requested that the court order Kim to complete a sexual violence treatment program, impose a 10-year employment restriction, and require the disclosure of his personal information.
Kim was arrested and indicted on charges of injuring one woman by spraying capsaicin on toilet paper in a women's restroom at a commercial building in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, on April 26.
He is also accused of entering the same restroom seven times between January and April of this year to install a micro-camera and filming four women using the facilities.
In his final statement, Kim said, "I am sincerely sorry to the victims," adding, "I will spend the rest of my life reflecting on my actions."
The sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 25.
