A flood advisory was issued at 12:40 p.m. today (July 9) for areas near Sindaebang Station, Sillim Station, and Boramae Station, located near Dorimcheon Stream in Seoul.

This marks the first such advisory since the Urban Flood Prevention Act took effect in 2024 and the pilot project for urban flood forecasting began on June 19 of this year, covering six districts including Gangnam, Seocho, Gwanak, Guro, Dongjak, and Yeongdeungpo in Seoul.

The Han River Flood Control Office under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment explained that the advisory was issued after analyzing the sewage water levels around Dorimcheon Stream and the three stations, along with the forecast for upcoming rainfall, which indicated that road water levels are expected to approach or exceed the 15 cm flood threshold.

When a flood advisory is in effect, residents should check for flood-prone areas via safety alert text messages, avoid low-lying areas and underground spaces, and take precautionary measures such as installing flood barriers.
