The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it has selected four additional daycare centers in the first half of this year to lead its "Seoul-style Emergency and Gap Childcare" services, designed to assist parents who face difficulties finding childcare due to overtime work, family events, or other urgent circumstances.

Songcheon-dong Daycare Center in Gangbuk-gu and Saegil Daycare Center in Geumcheon-gu have been selected as "365 Open Daycare Centers," which provide 24-hour care. Meanwhile, Digital Kkumteo Daycare Center in Guro-gu and Seocho Hanbyeol Daycare Center in Seocho-gu have been designated as "Seoul-style Part-time Specialized Daycare Centers," where care can be utilized on an hourly basis.

Including these newly selected locations, there are now 15 "365 Open Daycare Centers" and 25 "Part-time Specialized Daycare Centers" operating across Seoul.

The 365 Open Daycare Centers operate 24 hours a day, all year round, with the exception of New Year's Day, the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, and Children's Day.

The number of children using these services increased from 939 in 2023 to 1,657 in 2025.

Part-time Specialized Daycare Centers are designed for parents who need to leave their children for short periods. They are available to any preschool child between the ages of 6 months and 7 years.

Services can be reserved online through the Seoul Childcare Portal Service up to one day in advance.

Even if a reservation was not made in advance, parents may still use the service if they inquire by phone on the day and receive approval.

Ma Chae-sook, Director-General of the Seoul Women and Family Policy Affairs Office, stated, "The Seoul Metropolitan Government will continue to strengthen its emergency and gap childcare safety net, including the 365 Open Daycare Centers and Seoul-style Part-time Specialized Daycare Centers, to ensure that citizens can safely leave their children whenever they need to." She added, "We will also do our best to improve the quality of operations on the ground to provide a safe and stable care environment for children."
