Hanwha Aerospace is moving to expand its defense partnerships on the sidelines of the NATO summit.

Hanwha Aerospace announced that its delegation participated in the NATO Defense Industry Forum held in Ankara, Turkey, on July 7 (local time). During the event, the company discussed ways to strengthen Europe's defense production base, enhance supply chain resilience, and expand industrial cooperation with officials from NATO member states, the global defense industry, and security think tanks.

Jacek Cirek, Head of Hanwha Aerospace Europe, who participated in a panel session at the forum, emphasized the importance of expanding defense cooperation between NATO member states and Indo-Pacific partners (IP4), as well as the significance of long-term industrial collaboration.

"To strengthen Europe's defense capabilities, the importance of stable supply chains, local production capacity, and joint development and production systems is growing beyond simple equipment procurement," he said.

Hanwha Aerospace has established a joint production system in Poland through the K9 self-propelled howitzer and Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher projects. The company is currently pursuing the establishment of a local joint venture for missile production and a production base for Modular Charge Systems (MCS). In Romania, it is constructing production facilities for ground defense systems, including the K9 self-propelled howitzer.

Furthermore, the company is expanding technical cooperation and investment in Northern Europe, centered on the K9 self-propelled howitzer and Chunmoo, and is also pursuing joint development and technical cooperation in Western European countries such as Germany and France, broadening its defense cooperation base across Europe.
