The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) has adopted a special counsel bill on "fabricated indictments" as its official party line and agreed to pass it at a plenary session of the National Assembly as early as November 5.

Regarding the parliamentary inquiry into Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae, which was scheduled to be reported to the plenary session on the same day, the party decided to postpone the schedule to gather additional opinions.

Floor Spokesperson Kim Seong-hoe announced this after a general caucus meeting today (November 3), stating, "We have adopted the special counsel bill on fabricated indictments as a party line," and added, "We plan to hold consultations to bring it to the plenary session on November 5."

Regarding the parliamentary investigation into Chief Justice Cho, he said, "Several lawmakers offered a variety of opinions at the caucus meeting," adding, "We decided to undergo a process to collect more opinions from within the parliamentary party."

Initially, the DPK had decided to pursue a parliamentary inquiry into Chief Justice Cho during a caucus meeting late last month and was scheduled to report the motion to the plenary session on November 5.

The DPK also plans to pass contentious bills—including the Democratic Meritorious Persons Act, the Act on the Improvement of Urban Areas and Residential Environments, the Special Act on the Promotion of Urban Renewal, and the Special Act on Yongsan Park—at the November 5 plenary session.

Meanwhile, the party also plans to adopt a resolution urging the expulsion of People Power Party Representative Kim Tae-kyu, as well as a "resolution condemning North Korea's landmine provocations in areas south of the Military Demarcation Line," which was approved by the National Assembly's Defense Committee led by the ruling party.
