The heartwarming story of a Coast Guard officer who saved a precious life through dedicated rescue efforts at a traffic accident scene has been shared.
Police Inspector Hyun Gu of the Jumunjin substation under the Gangneung Coast Guard recently received a message of gratitude from a fire rescue worker for his prompt and courageous rescue operations at a traffic accident site.
According to the Coast Guard, at around 5:30 PM on October 31, a single-vehicle rollover accident occurred on a road in Gujeong-myeon, Gangneung.
The accident left the driver trapped inside the vehicle, creating an emergency situation where they were unable to get out.
Inspector Hyun, who was passing by the area, witnessed the accident and immediately stepped in to take initial measures before the 119 rescue team arrived.
To quickly rescue the trapped driver, Inspector Hyun personally broke the windshield of the vehicle. Despite suffering a deep wound to his finger in the process, he continued his rescue efforts until the end.
His heroic actions came to light after a member of the Gangneung Fire Station 119 rescue team, who was dispatched to the scene at the time, posted a message of gratitude on the Gangneung Coast Guard website's praise board.
Inspector Hyun stated, "I thought that protecting the lives of citizens in an emergency situation is a natural duty as a Coast Guard officer. I will continue to do my best in my given position anytime and anywhere to protect the safety of the citizens."
