A South Korean tourist has fallen victim to an armed robbery near Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

According to local media and other sources, at around 9:15 p.m. on October 31 local time, a 46-year-old South Korean male tourist was targeted by three armed assailants on Macapagal Boulevard in Parañaque City, Metro Manila.

Local police investigations revealed that the three male suspects, dressed in motorcycle taxi and delivery platform uniforms, followed the South Korean tourist as he was heading out to buy groceries and attempted to snatch his bag.

During the incident, as the victim resisted and struggled with the attackers, one of the suspects reportedly fired a gun.

However, the victim was not shot and reportedly sustained abrasions to his head and knees.

Local police who rushed to the scene stated that they have arrested one 30-year-old suspect and are currently pursuing the other two who fled.

The stolen bag contained 12,000 pesos in cash (worth approximately 300,000 won), a passport, and a hotel room key card, which have not yet been recovered, according to reports.

Local police stated that they seized a 9mm pistol, ammunition, a motorcycle, and fake delivery service uniforms, noting that the suspects had disguised themselves as real delivery workers using outfits purchased online.

Previously, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines issued a notice on October 29 advising Korean residents to watch out for pickpocketing and other thefts in crowded areas, as a significant increase in movement was expected due to visits to gravesites for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

The Korean National Police Agency stated that a police attaché stationed at the local embassy visited the jurisdictional police station to verify the facts.
