U.S. President Donald Trump projected on the 30th (local time) that the war with Iran will wrap up soon, while emphasizing the need for guarantees to permanently prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
According to Reuters, President Trump made the remarks during an interview with radio station KCMO in Kansas City, Missouri, stating regarding the Iran conflict, "It will be wrapping up soon," and adding, "We need a guarantee that there will be absolutely no nuclear weapons."
However, he did not present specific plans or a timeline for how the war would be brought to an end.
President Trump has previously stated that he would not attack Iran before the U.S. midterm elections scheduled for the 3rd of next month.
However, he has repeatedly hinted that a massive offensive against Iran could be launched after the midterms, and the U.S. military has recently deployed additional air defense systems and ammunition to the Middle East while relocating some personnel from bases vulnerable to Iranian retaliatory strikes.
Meanwhile, apart from military pressure, the U.S. is also pursuing negotiations for a diplomatic solution.
Vice President JD Vance has reportedly delivered a letter proposing the resumption of negotiations to the Iranian side through Qatari mediation.
