Actor Kang Youseok looked back on his past of being rejected in about 200 auditions.
Attending the press screening and press conference for the movie "Final Interview" held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul on October 28, Kang Youseok opened up when asked about the most intense "final interview" moment of his life, saying, "Looking back on my life so far, I think I have been through hundreds of interviews and auditions."
Kang Youseok shared, "Starting from college entrance exams, there were so many moments. There were so many that I cannot pick just one," adding, "I remember preparing for college entrance exams while retaking them at age 20, the final auditions for projects I really wanted to do, and the moments when I made it to the third and fourth rounds."
He continued, "All those moments were such precious and valuable interview times for me. I think I am who I am today because of those roughly 200 interviews and auditions that I failed besides those."
He also emphasized that his experiences of failure served as nourishment for his growth as an actor. He said, "Not only the moments when I got good results in final interviews, but also the interviews I failed feel like grateful steps of mine."
"Final Interview" is a mystery thriller depicting the story that unfolds when six applicants, who overcame 5,000-to-1 odds to reach the final interview, discover mysterious envelopes containing their respective secrets. Kang Youseok played Hee-chan, a job seeker who is one of the six finalists.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 4.
