Seoul Seongdong Police Station announced today (October 28) that it will operate a dedicated foreigner desk called "POLICE POP-UP" for three days from October 30 to November 1 to strengthen security around the Seongsu-dong area before and after Halloween.
The dedicated desk will operate from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ginkgo Tree Children's Park within the Seongsu-dong Cafe Street.
Police officers fluent in foreign languages will be deployed to enhance response capabilities when handling 112 emergency reports or civil complaints from foreigners.
QR codes providing safety accident prevention guidelines and portable emergency bells will also be distributed to tourists.
In collaboration with Neubility, an artificial intelligence (AI) autonomous driving robot company located in Seongsu-dong, patrol robots will be deployed in various locations.
Reflecting the increasing trend of domestic and foreign tourist crowds in the cafe street, the Seongdong Police Station has designated the area as a crime prevention enhancement zone and is promoting special safety activities.
Seongdong Police Station Chief Kang Yong-jun said, "We will continue to strengthen safety nets in crowded areas by cooperating with relevant organizations and improve policing services by considering regional characteristics such as Seongsu Cafe Street to create a safe Seongdong-gu."
