A citizen who witnessed a gas explosion, ran to the scene, shut off the valves, and reported the incident has been identified as 48-year-old actor Yoon Dae-yeol.

According to the Incheon Seobu Police Station, Yoon witnessed a gas explosion while taking a walk near the first floor of a commercial building in Majeon-dong, Geomdan-gu, at around 8:45 a.m. yesterday (October 27).

Amid the chaos following a loud bang outside a shop, he quickly shut off the valves of two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks that were left open and reported the matter to the police.

Residing near the accident site, Yoon was reportedly aware of the location of the LPG tanks in advance, which allowed him to make a split-second decision when the explosion occurred.

He primarily worked as a stage actor before making his silver screen debut in the 2014 film Kundo: Age of the Rampant.

He has since appeared in movies such as Asura: The City of Madness, The Outlaws, Hunt, and 12.12: The Day.

A police official stated that if the gas had continued to leak, a dangerous situation could have persisted, adding that Yoon's prompt decision prevented further damage.

It was confirmed that interior demolition work was underway at the restaurant where the gas explosion occurred.

Four people, including three workers in their 60s and the 60s restaurant owner, suffered burns to their faces and other areas in the accident and were transported to the hospital by 119 emergency services for treatment.

Police believe the explosion occurred while work was being carried out without the gas valves shut off, and they are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
