▲ The KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and won-dollar exchange rate are displayed at the dealing room of the Hana Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 28th, as the KOSPI started strong with an approximately 2% gain in early trading.
As the KOSPI surged over 4% today (the 28th) amid a recovery in investor sentiment toward semiconductor stocks, a temporary suspension of program buy orders (buy sidecar) was triggered on the main bourse.
According to the Korea Exchange, the effect of program buy quotes was suspended for 5 minutes starting at around 9:54:24 a.m. today in the KOSPI market due to fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 futures index.
This marks the buy sidecar being triggered for the second consecutive day, following the previous day.
At the time of activation, the KOSPI 200 futures index stood at 928.02, up 45.64 points (5.17%) from the previous trading day's close.
A KOSPI buy sidecar is triggered when the price of KOSPI 200 futures rises by 5% or more compared to the base price and sustains that level for 1 minute.
As of 9:57 a.m., the KOSPI was up 266.32 points (4.72%) from the previous session at 5,904.66.
Samsung Electronics was up 7.09% and SK Hynix was up 5.44%.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was up 29.38 points (3.95%) at 773.21.
