Jeon Do-yeon, who stars in Director Lee Chang-dong's new film 'Possible Love', has been tipped by a U.S. media outlet as a strong contender for the Academy Awards.
The Hollywood Reporter predicted that she could become the first South Korean to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Jeon plays Mi-ok, the wife of a laid-off worker, in 'Possible Love'.
Following its screening at the Venice International Film Festival in September, foreign media lavished praise on Jeon, describing her performance as "once-in-a-century acting."
Recently, the U.S. entertainment outlet The Hollywood Reporter reported on her potential nomination for Best Actress, adding that it would be "a fitting development given her remarkable trajectory in the film."
It further noted that it is hard to imagine anyone other than Jeon playing Mi-ok, praising her performance for piercing the heart most painfully at the most joyful moments.
The U.S. film review site Rotten Tomatoes also tipped Jeon Do-yeon as an Academy Best Actress nominee and included 'Possible Love' in its predicted Best Picture shortlist.
