Golfer Shin Sang-hun has finished tied for 3rd place in the second round of the Genesis Championship, co-sanctioned by the Korean Professional Golfers' (KPGA) Tour and the European DP World Tour.
Playing at Woojung Hills Country Club (par 71) in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, Shin shot 2-under-par with five birdies and three bogeys in the second round held today (23rd).
With a midway total of 7-under-par, Shin placed tied for 3rd, three strokes behind co-leaders Casey Jarvis of South Africa and Antoine Rozner of France, who both sit at 10-under-par.
Shin, who has secured one KPGA Tour win this season and leads the Genesis Point standings while ranking 3rd in prize money, followed up his sole 2nd-place finish on the first day by securing the highest placement among South Korean players for the second consecutive day.
The tournament, offering a record total purse of $4 million (approx. 5.3 billion won) and a winner's prize of $680,000 (approx. 900 million won)—the largest in domestic golf—has drawn a slew of global stars, including PGA Tour campaigners Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae, as well as Ryan Fox of New Zealand, this year's Open Championship winner.
Kim Si-woo, who became the first South Korean player to surpass $1 million in single-season prize money on the PGA Tour this year, shaved two strokes off in the second round to reach 6-under-par overall, tying for 7th place alongside Lee Dae-han. Meanwhile, Ryan Fox is tied for 3rd alongside Shin at 7-under-par.
Im Sung-jae narrowly made the cut, finishing tied for 57th at 1-over-par overall.
